Amritsar, May 20 (Ozi news desk): The scorching heat has significantly reduced the number of devotees visiting the Golden Temple, with only around 50,000-55,000 visitors per day compared to the usual 90,000-100,000. To combat the heat, the SGPC has made special arrangements such as extending the visiting hours from 4 am to 11 pm. The temple officials have also increased the number of mats and introduced a water sprinkling mechanism to keep the devotees cool. Inside the sanctum sanctorum, air-conditioners and water vapour sprinklers have been installed. The carpets have been replaced with jute mats to minimize heat emission. Additionally, fans and coolers have been placed in the verandahs for the comfort of those walking around the parikrama.
