Karnal, June 14 (Ozi news desk): The groundwater situation in Haryana has reached a critical state, as indicated by the latest data from the Ground Water Cell. Out of the total 143 blocks in the region, a staggering 88 blocks have been classified as overexploited. This means that the extraction of groundwater in these areas has far exceeded sustainable levels, posing a serious threat to the availability of this vital resource. Further analysis of the data reveals that 11 blocks fall under the critical category, indicating that the groundwater situation in these areas is extremely dire. Additionally, nine blocks are classified as semi-critical, suggesting that the extraction levels are approaching a critical threshold. Only 35 blocks are considered to be in the safe category, where groundwater extraction is within acceptable limits.
