Chandigarh, February 20 (ozi news desk): Sunil Jakhar, the state BJP chief, accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of undermining the collaborative efforts of farmer leaders and Union ministers in finding a resolution to the ongoing issue. This statement was made on Tuesday following the rejection of the Centre’s proposal by farmers, who have decided to persist with their ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest.
The rejection of the Centre’s proposal, which involved the purchase of pulses, maize, and cotton crops at MSP for five years through government agencies, was announced by farmers a day prior to Jakhar’s remarks. Bhagwant Mann, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, had participated in the meeting where this proposal was presented.
Jakhar expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in the negotiations between farmers and the central government, emphasizing the presence of thousands of farmers at the Punjab-Haryana border with demands such as a legal guarantee for MSP and the waiver of farm debts. The situation remains tense as the impasse continues amidst the ongoing protests.
