Patna: The Election Commission has reported an unprecedented voter turnout in the second phase of polling in Bihar, reaching 68.76 percent, marking the highest participation rate in the state’s history. Overall, the turnout across both phases stood at 66.91 percent, the most significant since 1951. The first phase recorded a turnout of 65.06 percent. Among the districts, Katihar led with an impressive 78.82 percent, followed closely by Kishanganj at 78.13 percent, Purnia at 76.09 percent, Supaul at 72.56 percent, Purvi Champaran at 71.30 percent, and Paschim Champaran at 70.81 percent. In contrast, Nawada had the lowest turnout at 57.85 percent. Key constituencies also showed varied participation, with Supaul at 70.83 percent, Sasaram at 62.10 percent, Mohania at 68.24 percent, Kutumba at 62.17 percent, Gaya Town at 58.43 percent, Chainpur at 68.54 percent, Dhamdaha at 76.25 percent, Harsiddhi at 73.71 percent, and Jhanjharpur at 59.14 percent. Notably, female voter participation was significantly higher at 71.6 percent compared to 62.8 percent for male voters. In total, over 7.4 crore individuals cast their votes across 38 districts to determine the fate of 2,616 candidates. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar characterized the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections as historic, highlighting the remarkable engagement of more than 7.5 crore voters during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, facilitated by dedicated grassroots election workers and approximately 1.76 lakh booth-level agents from various political parties.
