Ahmedabad, May 21 (Ozi news desk): Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, are facing a significant challenge as they attempt to reverse a disappointing trend in a crucial IPL Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are currently in good form. Initially, the Royals seemed poised to finish at the top of the league standings, but a series of losses and a washed-out match against KKR led to them finishing third behind Sunrisers Hyderabad.
On the other hand, RCB has made a remarkable comeback after a poor start to the season, winning six consecutive matches to secure a spot in the playoffs by defeating defending champions Chennai Super Kings. Despite being the 2008 IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals are now considered underdogs due to their recent poor performance, highlighting weaknesses in both their batting and bowling departments.
The absence of Jos Buttler has weakened their batting lineup, putting more pressure on Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Riyan Parag to step up and stop the downward spiral. Samson and Parag will be crucial for RR’s success, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore likely to open alongside Jaiswal, forming a relatively inexperienced opening pair.
The return of Shimron Hetmyer is expected to bolster Rajasthan’s lower order, which has struggled to make significant contributions with the bat this season. Rajasthan Royals’ strong bowling attack could prove to be an advantage, especially considering the venue for the Eliminator is not known for being a high-scoring ground, unlike other stadiums in the tournament.
