Patiala, 20 february (ozi news desk):  The farmer unions have initiated an appeal drive in the villages, urging supporters to gather at Shambhu border and join them in the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march to Delhi. It is expected that the number of protesters will increase significantly by evening, with hundreds of farmers joining the protest at Shambhu. To manage the traffic movement, heavy police deployment has been arranged in and around Rajpura, as numerous tractor trolleys are anticipated to arrive at Shambhu. Despite ongoing talks with the farmer unions, it seems unlikely that they will reconsider their decision to proceed for Delhi on Wednesday.

After a day of consultations and discussions on Monday, the farmer unions rejected the Centre’s proposal to purchase three pulses, cotton, and maize at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The farm leaders have announced that the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march will take place on February 21 at 11 am. Expressing their dissatisfaction, Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur) chief Jagjit Singh Dallewal stated that unless the government provides written assurance regarding the MSP on all 23 crops as per the Swaminathan Commission report, the farmers will have no choice but to continue protesting.
