New Delhi, 22 February (ozi news desk): Social media platform X expressed its disagreement with the Indian government’s order to block accounts and posts related to the farmers’ protests. X called for the extension of freedom of expression to the affected posts.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT has ordered social media platforms to temporarily block 177 accounts linked to the farmers’ protest, as requested by the Ministry of Home Affairs. X stated that they will comply with the orders by withholding these accounts and posts in India alone, but they maintain their disagreement with these actions.
They also mentioned that a writ appeal challenging the government’s blocking orders is still pending and called for the order to be made public to enhance transparency. X has notified the impacted users about the government actions in accordance with their policies.
