Karnal, April 1 (Ozi news desk): wheat has been reported at 23 purchase centres in the district for procurement, with an expected arrival of 8 lakh MT this season compared to 7.8 lakh MT last season. Agricultural experts have noted a delay in wheat harvesting due to a recent drop in temperature, estimating that it will take an additional three to four days to begin.
Dr. Wazir Singh, Deputy Director Agriculture, emphasized the importance of proper cleaning and drying of grains before bringing them for procurement, addressing issues faced by farmers with data updating on the e-kharid portal.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Akhil Pilani confirmed no wheat arrival at the purchase centres, highlighting the district’s readiness for procurement and focus on efficient lifting to support farmers.
