The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has shifted its office out of former president and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh’s residence. The Sports Ministry had recently raised a serious objection in this regard. The source said, “After vacating Brijbhushan’s residence, the WFI will work from a new office in New Delhi.” The new office of the federation is located in Hari Nagar area of New Delhi.
The ministry suspended the newly constituted WFI panel on December 24, three days after Sanjay Singh was elected president, citing Brij Bhushan’s residence-based office as one of the reasons for taking this drastic action. The ministry had said that all the work of the federation is being conducted from the residence of the former office-bearer. This is the same alleged residence where allegations of sexual harassment of female wrestlers have been made and the court is currently hearing the matter. The ministry had also said that the new organization was working under the control of former officials, which was not in accordance with the National Sports Code.
