According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are likely to remain above normal in many parts of the country in the month of May. In particular, except for most areas of South Peninsular India and some parts of North-East India, temperatures are expected to remain below normal in the rest of the country. Thus, the month of May can be a source of large variations in weather conditions, which can also affect people’s daily routine and agriculture. Therefore, people are advised to plan their days and keep the weather conditions in mind. IMD Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra has informed that the number of heatwave days is likely to be one to four days more than usual in some states of India. This includes Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. Apart from this, the number of heatwave days is also likely to increase in some parts of Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and North Karnataka. This situation may be due to weather elements and environmental influences, which require people to be careful. Heatwave is likely to be above normal in Indian states such as Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and some parts of Telangana and North Karnataka. Along with this, more than normal rainfall is expected in many parts of the country. However, except for some areas of North-West India, Central India, North-East India and East Central India, the rest of the country is likely to receive less than normal rainfall. Thus, these weather elements can have different effects in any region, which can affect the lifestyle of farmers and the common people.
