Under NEP, NCC, NSS, Sports, and Cultural Activities to Get Academic Recognition in Higher Education – Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda
Haryana Education Minister Mr. Mahipal Dhanda has announced an important scheme under the directions of the Chief Minister, with the aim of implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 more effectively and practically in the state. Under this scheme, to boost the holistic (360-degree) development of students studying in higher education institutions across the state, formal recognition has been provided to NCC, NSS, sports and yogasana, cultural activities, Youth Red Cross, incubation, and outreach activities under the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) academic framework.
The Education Minister informed that these orders will apply equally to all state universities, government, government-aided, self-financing, and private colleges’ principals and administrators falling under the Higher Education Department of the state.
He stated that with this revolutionary step, the youth of Haryana will not only undergo mental and intellectual development, but their sense of national service, discipline, and leadership will also be further strengthened.
Emphasis on Overall Personality Building of Students
Education Minister Mr. Mahipal Dhanda said that along with traditional bookish knowledge, practical, social, and physical skills are essential for today’s youth. The main objective of the NEP is not merely to turn students into degree holders, but to transform them into responsible, disciplined, and multi-talented citizens. Until now, students participating in activities like sports, yoga, NSS, or NCC did not receive additional academic benefits; however, under this new system, these activities will be integrated into their curriculum and credit system.
The Minister shared that detailed guidelines for implementing the plan have been issued by the Department of Higher Education. Heads of all universities and colleges have been directed to ensure necessary action in their respective institutions according to the attached guidelines. This decision was issued following formal approval from the competent authority. Co-curricular activities have been made part of the graduation and post-graduation degree frameworks. This system will be applicable across all government, aided, and private institutions in the state. To promote innovation among students, incubation and outreach activities will be encouraged.
Haryana Government Approves Upgradation and Setup of Health Institutions in Rural Areas
The Haryana Government is continuously working toward strengthening and modernizing the healthcare infrastructure in the rural areas of the state. Taking a major step in this direction, the state government has given in-principle approval to upgrade two existing government health institutions and establish two new ones.
Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao, while sharing information about this decision, stated that Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has approved these key proposals with the objective of making better and accessible medical facilities available to the general public close to their homes.
Under this decision, rural and urban border areas of the Faridabad district will receive major relief. The Sub-Health Center located in Manjhawali village of Faridabad will now be upgraded to a Primary Health Center. Meanwhile, the Primary Health Center in Palla Sehatpur village will be upgraded to a modern 50-bed Urban Community Health Center, ensuring local residents do not have to travel long distances to major hospitals for emergency and specialized medical services.
In addition, approval has been granted to open a new Primary Health Center in Bupania village of Jhajjar district and establish a new Sub-Health Center in Arniawali village of Sirsa district.
The Health Minister stated that the state government’s top priority is to deliver quality healthcare services to the last person in the state. With this new expansion of primary and community health centers, residents, women, and children across dozens of surrounding villages will be able to access basic treatment, essential medicines, and routine health checkups close to home. This will not only improve the quality of health services in rural areas, but also relieve excessive pressure on large district-level hospitals
