Chandigarh, February 8,(Press KI Taquat): The child should be adopted in full legal manner so that any kind of problems can be avoided in the future. This was expressed by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur here today.

Divulging in this regard Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the process of adopting a child starts with online registration on the website of the Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA). If an aspirant is unable to register online, he/she can contact the Child Protection Unit of his/her district and get information about the legal procedure for adopting a child from within the country or abroad.

The Cabinet Minister said that the provisions made under the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956 and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 are essential for those who wish to adopt a child.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is striving for the welfare of every child in the state.  During the current year by the Social Security Department, 37 children have been ensured  adoption in the country and 5 children outside the country.

Minister said that the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development organizes training workshops in districts of the state to spread awareness about child adoption.
