The Chief Minister was addressing the people present today after laying the foundation stone for expansion and redevelopment of Delhi Parallel Canal at Singapura village in Panipat district. The project will be carried out from Munak Head in Karnal District to Khubru Head in Sonepat District and is estimated to cost Rs 304 crore, out of which the farmers of Israna, Panipat Rural and Samalkha areas of Panipat District will benefit the farmers of South Haryana. will benefit The capacity of the canal will be increased from 5528 cusecs to 7280 cusecs and the access of water to the canals of South Haryana including Delhi will increase. After the completion of the work, the width of the canal will increase from 85 feet to 98 feet and the depth will increase from 11.5 feet to 13.5 feet.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that it was very important to carry out the work of expansion and redevelopment of the Delhi Parallel Canal in this series so that the farmers could benefit from the canal water in a larger number. The Chief Minister said that the people of South Haryana, including Karnal, Panipat, Sonepat, had been demanding for a long time that the capacity of water in the Delhi Parallel Canal should be increased. The Chief Minister said that about 80 lakh acres of land in the state is suitable for agriculture. Apart from canals, irrigation is also done through tube wells in the state. He said that water can now be delivered to the lower areas as well through the comprehensive management of water. He said that this scheme will prove effective for the entire supply of drinking water to the area from Hathni Kund to Gurugram.
