Chandigarh, May 10 (Ozi news desk): The ongoing conflict between the JJP leadership and the ‘rebel’ MLAs has escalated, raising the possibility of a split within the party. Despite both sides remaining steadfast in their positions, they are carefully considering their options in an attempt to outmaneuver each other. However, the main challenge for the ‘rebel’ MLAs is the threat of a whip during any floor test for the ‘minority’ Nayab Singh Saini government. To avoid disqualification as members of the state Assembly, they will be required to adhere to the party’s whip. On the other hand, the ‘rebels’ need the support of at least seven out of the ten MLAs to initiate a party split. Once formed, this new group will have the opportunity to merge with another party. One of the ‘rebels’, Devender Babli, who is also the MLA for Tohana, has expressed that the party MLAs have lost faith in the ‘dictatorial’ leadership of Dushyant Chautala. He has hinted at the possibility of holding a meeting and electing a new leader. Dissatisfied with the party leadership, five MLAs have already formed a group and are reportedly aligning themselves with the BJP government in the state following the dissolution of the BJP-JJP alliance in March. In fact, four JJP MLAs recently met with former CM Manohar Lal Khattar in Panipat, while Dushyant Chautala wrote a letter to the Governor, urging a floor test or the imposition of President’s rule in Haryana due to the Saini government’s reduced majority after the withdrawal of support from three Independent MLAs. In response to Babli’s remarks, the JJP leadership has deployed its Chief Whip and Julana MLA Amarjeet Dhanda to criticize him. Dhanda took exception to Babli’s comments, suggesting that he may have lost his mental balance due to political greed. Dhanda also reminded Babli that despite losing the Vidhan Sabha elections twice, he was nominated by the JJP for the Tohana Assembly, resulting in his victory. Furthermore, Babli was appointed as a Cabinet minister during the BJP-JJP alliance government in Haryana. Dhanda advised Babli to assess his political standing before making further statements.
