New Delhi, May 29 (Ozi news desk):  The request made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to extend his interim bail by seven days for medical tests has been denied by the Supreme Court registry. The registry stated that since Kejriwal has the option to approach the trial court for regular bail, his plea is not valid. During the hearing, senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing the chief minister, informed the vacation bench consisting of Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Viswanathan that the decision on the listing of the interim plea can be made by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) as the judgment in the main matter has been reserved. Kejriwal’s plea for an extension of his interim bail is based on his need to undergo various medical tests, including a PET-CT scan, due to sudden weight loss and high ketone levels, which could indicate kidney and cardiac ailments or even cancer. In his fresh plea filed on May 26, the chief minister requested to surrender before jail authorities on June 9 instead of the initially scheduled date of June 2. The Supreme Court had previously granted Kejriwal a 21-day interim bail on May 10 to allow him to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls, as he was arrested in a money-laundering case related to the excise policy ‘scam’.
