State Bank of India (SBI) is set to introduce modifications to its ATM and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machine (ADWM) transaction service charges, which will take effect on December 1, 2025. These adjustments primarily target the fees associated with transactions that surpass the monthly free limits applicable to certain account categories. Notably, the revised service charges will be implemented starting on the specified date, while a significant change has already been enacted as of May 1, 2025, where decline charges for ATM and ADWM transactions have been waived for Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts (BSBDA) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) accounts. This waiver means that customers holding these accounts will not incur charges if their transactions are declined, such as in cases of insufficient funds. For customers, the most immediate consequence of these changes will be the potential for increased fees if they exceed their allotted number of free ATM transactions, which will vary based on their account type and average monthly balance (AMB). Regular savings account holders, in particular, should be aware that exceeding the free transaction limits will lead to the application of the revised charges. Furthermore, these changes are part of a broader initiative by SBI to promote digital banking, complementing previous updates to ATM regulations and the launch of new services like the YONO app. For customers with BSBDA and KCC accounts, the elimination of transaction decline charges provides a small but meaningful financial relief. For comprehensive information regarding the updated service charges, customers are encouraged to visit the Revised Service Charges section on the official SBI website.
