Ranchi, May 6 (Ozi news desk): The Enforcement Directorate announced on Monday that they had discovered a significant amount of unaccounted cash during raids at the residence of a domestic worker allegedly connected to the secretary of a Jharkhand minister, according to official sources.
Videos and images shared by the sources depicted officials from the central investigative agency removing bundles of currency notes from large bags in a room, with some central force security personnel also present. The residence in question is believed to belong to the domestic worker of Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam’s personal secretary, Sanjiv Lal.
Sources from the Enforcement Directorate mentioned that the cash was being tallied to determine the precise amount, which is estimated to be between Rs 20-30 crore. The majority of the cash is in Rs 500 denominations, and some jewelry items were also seized during the operation, as per the sources. Alam, a 70-year-old Congress leader, represents the Pakur constituency in the Jharkhand assembly.
The raids are connected to a money laundering case involving the former chief engineer of the rural development department, Veerendra Kumar Ram, who was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate last year. The agency had previously alleged that Ram, who served as the chief engineer in the Rural Works Department in Ranchi, had illicitly acquired funds through commissions from contractors in exchange for awarding them tenders.
