Patiala, May 22 (Ozi news desk): The Patiala Administration is facing tension due to farmers’ demand for a protest site ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally. While some farmer groups plan to march towards the rally venue, others are requesting a designated space near the site to raise their concerns.
Despite police offering a location near Dukhniwaran Sahib for the protest, farmer leaders insist on holding their sit-in near the rally venue, a demand rejected by senior police officers. Concerns have been raised about the ability of police to manage the situation if farmers are allowed near the rally site, prompting officials to suggest holding the protest on the outskirts of the city.
A senior IPS officer mentioned that farmers are still undecided on whether to march towards the rally site or accept a site near the venue, with further discussions planned for later in the day. Prohibitory orders in Patiala require farmers to obtain written permission from the District Magistrate before assembling for any protest activities.
