Fatehgarh Sahib, May 12 (Ozi news desk): With the upcoming electoral battle in Fatehgarh Sahib, the fight between the sitting Congress MP and two party-hoppers is adding excitement to the elections. Former Congress MLA Gurpreet Singh GP, now a nominee of AAP, and Gejja Singh Valmiki, a former Congress leader who shifted to the BJP, are challenging the Congress MP Amar Singh. The voters, especially in rural areas, are confused about these candidates and the political parties they now represent. This election will also be a test for the BJP, as they have not contested in Fatehgarh Sahib before. The seat was previously contested by the Shiromani Akali Dal, when they were alliance partners with the BJP. The BSP has also fielded its candidate in this constituency. Fatehgarh Sahib is known for its Panthic identity and pockets of industries, which have brought economic prosperity to the area. However, development has been lacking in this reserved constituency, with issues such as unclean village ponds, lack of a tertiary care hospital, and inadequate infrastructure in education institutions.
