Gurdaspur, April 25 (Ozi news desk): Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan emphasized the importance of not repeating the mistake made in the 2019 elections by electing Sunny Deol as the MP for Gurdaspur. He urged the people to vote for Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, highlighting Kalsi’s ability to effectively represent their concerns in Parliament. The CM made these remarks during a rally at Hanuman Chowk to launch Kalsi’s campaign.
Despite the scorching heat and extensive security measures, around 4,000 individuals gathered at the rally location, which had been transformed into a heavily guarded area since early morning. Despite the tight security, a person managed to breach the security and approach the stage, causing embarrassment to the police. However, the CM quickly reassured the situation from the stage, indicating that everything was under control. The protester later handed a memorandum of demands to the CM before being escorted away by the police.
During his address, the CM shared amusing stories about Sunny Deol, his famous ‘Dhai Kilo Ka Haath,’ and his lack of presence in the constituency that elected him with a significant majority. He also criticized the Badal family, particularly Sukhbir Badal and Harsimrat Kaur, stating that they were unaware of Punjab’s issues. Additionally, he rebuked Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, whose home district is Gurdaspur.
Maan, drawing from his experience of two terms in the Lok Sabha, mentioned that he had insights into how things operated in Parliament. He promised to share a special password with Sherry Kalsi once he was elected, to facilitate getting things done.
Kalsi encouraged the public to vote for his party, highlighting the developmental initiatives undertaken in the past two years. Raman Bahl presented a list of demands, including the establishment of a medical college and hospital in or around the city, to address the healthcare needs of the region.
