Expressing concern over the law and order situation in Manipur, the Supreme Court sought a detailed status report from the state government on the measures taken to curb ethnic violence in the state.

The Supreme Court asked the government to list the steps taken towards building rehabilitation camps for homeless and violence-affected people, deployment of forces, and the law and order situation in Manipur.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appearing for the Centre and Manipur government told the Supreme Court that the situation is improving in the state, though slowly.

The Supreme Court has asked the Manipur government to submit the report by July 10 when the matter will be heard next.
