New Delhi, July 22 (Ozi news desk): The directive issued by the Uttar Pradesh government to eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route, requiring them to display the names of their owners, has been met with an interim stay by the Supreme Court on Monday.
The ex-parte order was issued by a Bench comprising Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice SVN Bhatt in response to petitions filed by the Association for Protection of Civil Rights, TMC MP Mahua Moitra, Prof Apoorvanand Jha, and others questioning the legality of the directive.
The Supreme Court also issued notices to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and other states where the Kanwar Yatra is observed, scheduling the matter for further hearing on July 26.
