under the directions of the Government of Punjab and the Department of Higher Education, a lecture on “Guru Tradition and Martyrdom” was organized at Sabha Bhawan as part of Government Mohindra College Patiala’s 150th year celebrations and the commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji. The event was held under the patronage of the college principal, Prof. Nishtha Tripathi. Dr. Harpal Singh Pannu attended the programme as the chief guest and keynote speaker. The event was conducted by the Head of the History Department, Dr. Puneet, who introduced Dr. Pannu’s academic contributions and warmly welcomed the dignitaries. Before delivering his main lecture, Dr.Pannu shared early memories and personal experiences. He then discussed in detail the religious texts written in Punjab and offered an insightful explanation of the Guru tradition. He elaborated on the concepts of Shaheed and Shahadat and narrated the extraordinary life story of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, from his childhood to his supreme sacrifice. The programme saw the participation of college council members, Professor Lovleen Parmar, Dr.AmritSamra, the entire faculty of the History Department, and professors from other departments of the college. The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Kiranjeet Kaur from the History Department.
