Chandigarh, June 25 (Ozi news desk): The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is currently facing a potential split as 60 leaders within the party have rebelled against party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. This discontent has been simmering within the party ever since SAD suffered a significant defeat in the 2022 Assembly elections.
Interestingly, this entire episode has brought to light the surprising shift in allegiance of a prominent journalist, Barjinder Singh Hamdard, who had previously supported Sukhbir.
The recent Lok Sabha elections proved to be a major setback for the SAD, as the party not only failed to secure victory in 10 out of 13 seats but also lost its deposit in those constituencies. The party’s sole win came from the Badal family’s stronghold.
