May 23 (Ozi news desk): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election campaign in Punjab, extensive security measures have been put in place. Thousands of police personnel and three companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in cities like Patiala, Jalandhar, and Gurdaspur, where Modi is scheduled to campaign for BJP candidates. The deployment comes in response to a call by farmer unions to protest against Modi’s visit. In the past, there have been instances of farmers blocking the Prime Minister’s convoy, causing disruptions. To prevent any such incidents, heavy vehicles have been diverted, the entire district of Patiala has been declared a no-flying zone, and strict screening measures have been implemented at checkpoints. The security arrangements are being overseen by Punjab’s director general of police, Gaurav Yadav. State BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has also reviewed the security arrangements in Patiala.
