Farmers’ organization Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) has today called for ‘Delhi Chalo’ on February 26 regarding 7 main demands. In view of this, 15 more ‘Kisan Mahapanchayats’ will be organized in different parts of the country in the next one and a half months. Six Kisan Mahapanchayats have already been conducted in the last 15 days. While announcing their next programme, the farmer leaders also emphasized on protecting the democratic and secular values of the country. He said that the recent suspension of Leaders of Opposition in both Houses and the government’s alleged ‘bad attitude’ towards Olympian wrestlers to ‘save’ BJP MP Brij Bhushan is against our democratic values.
Meanwhile, Jagjit Singh Dallewal (Punjab), K. Shanthakumar (Karnataka), KV Biju (Kerala), Abhimanyu Kohar and Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh (Haryana), Sachin Mahapatra (Orissa), Arun Sinha (Bihar), Ravidatt Singh (Madhya Pradesh), Shankar (Maharashtra), Narayan Reddy, Basavaraj Patil , and Deva Kumar (Karnataka) said the front’s demands included guarantee of MSP under the C2+50 percent formula, loan waiver to all farmers and waiver of all farm loans. Similarly, they also demanded increase in import rates on all agricultural products, India’s exit from WTO and not to privatize electricity boards. He said that after the agreement made by the Ministry of Agriculture with the United Kisan Morcha on December 9, 2021, the farmers had lifted the dharna from Delhi on December 11 of the same year, but the government has not yet fulfilled its promises. The cases registered against the farmers of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and other states have not been canceled yet. Similarly, the protesting farmers who were injured have not received compensation yet.
