New Delhi, May 11 (Ozi news desk): Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, will not be able to participate in the crucial match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday. This is due to a one-match suspension that he received for maintaining a slow over-rate for the third time this season. In addition to the suspension, Pant was also fined Rs 30 lakh for breaching the Code of Conduct during the team’s victory against the Rajasthan Royals on May 7. The Capitals were found to be 10 minutes behind time at the start of the final over in that particular game. The IPL released a statement confirming the fine and suspension, stating that it was the team’s third offense of the season in relation to minimum over-rate offenses. As a result, Pant was fined and suspended, while the rest of the Playing XI members were individually fined either INR 12 lakh or 50% of their respective match fees. DC filed an appeal against this ruling, which was referred to the BCCI Ombudsman for review. However, the Ombudsman conducted a virtual hearing and upheld the decision of the match referee as final and binding. The match between the fifth-place DC and the seventh-place RCB will be crucial for both teams as they aim to keep their playoff hopes alive in Bengaluru on Sunday.
