New York, May 30 (Ozi news desk): It will mark 527 days since the life-threatening accident that Rishabh Pant experienced when he steps onto the field wearing the India jersey on June 5 at the Nassau County ground for the opening T20 World Cup match against Ireland, a moment he eagerly anticipates.
Earlier this year, on March 23, Pant made a heartfelt return to the field donning the blue of Delhi Capitals after the harrowing car crash in 2022, but his excitement is palpable as he looks forward to wearing the distinct ‘India Blue’ jersey.
Expressing his emotions, Pant conveyed to BCCI.TV during India’s initial net session before the warm-up game against Bangladesh on June 1, how significant it is for him to be back playing in the Indian jersey, a feeling he deeply missed and hopes to excel in his performance moving forward.
Following a rigorous 15-month rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, Pant had the support of his teammate Suryakumar Yadav, who accompanied him during his recovery journey, providing companionship and helping him navigate through the challenges of his injury management program at the NCA.
Reflecting on reuniting with his team, Pant expressed his joy at being back with the squad, enjoying their company, engaging in conversations, and having fun together, highlighting the camaraderie and support he found within the team environment.
