Rajesh Khullar, a distinguished retired IAS officer from the 1988 batch, has been reinstated as the Chief Principal Secretary (CPS) to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The official appointment order released today does not confer upon him the rank and status typically associated with a Cabinet position. His tenure will align with that of the Chief Minister, commencing on October 17.
In a proactive move, Khullar convened a meeting with administrative secretaries to discuss the pre-election announcements made by the Chief Minister, despite the formal issuance of his appointment order still pending. Additionally, he led another meeting with department heads to address the recruitment of 24,000 candidates for Groups C and D positions, following the Haryana Staff Selection Commission’s announcement of results on the same day that Saini assumed office. Khullar’s appointment has already been marked by notable developments; on October 18, at approximately 8 pm, he was designated as the Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, initially with the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister, and the order reiterated that his term would coincide with that of the Chief Minister.
