Srinagar, March 7 (OZI NEWS DESK): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to reveal various development projects exceeding Rs 6,400 crore during his initial visit to Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370. He will also address a public gathering in Srinagar on Thursday, attending the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ event at the stadium and launching initiatives worth close to Rs 5,000 crore to enhance the agri-economy in the Union Territory.
With the Lok Sabha elections approaching and opposition parties pushing for an announcement regarding assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the political significance of the prime minister’s planned visit has intensified in terms of the potential statements he may make on the matter.
The BJP-led Centre revoked the provisions of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, dividing the former state into the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In preparation for the prime minister’s visit, several schools along his route in Srinagar have been shut down for Wednesday and Thursday, with board exams scheduled for Thursday postponed to the following month.
The residents of the Valley are hopeful for offerings of peace, prosperity, and more from the Prime Minister during his visit.
