Nana Patole announced his resignation from the position of president of the Maharashtra Congress on Monday, following a disappointing performance in the recent assembly elections. Among the prominent leaders of the Congress party in the state, which includes Balasaheb Thorat and Prithiviraj Chavan, both Thorat and Chavan faced defeat in their respective contests. In contrast, Patole managed to secure his seat in the Sakoli assembly constituency located in the Bhandara district, albeit with a narrow victory margin of just 208 votes, marking one of the lowest margins in the election.
