The government has decided to hand over the security of the Parliament building complex to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) after the recent security incident. This information was given by official sources.

The CISF will control the security at the airports as well as the new and old Parliament complex where people will be searched through hand-held detectors and their belongings will be scanned through X-ray machines. Shoes, heavy jackets and belts will be scanned by placing them on a tray and passing through the scanner. Earlier, the Delhi Police was entrusted with the responsibility of checking people going to the Parliamentary complex. The CISF is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) that currently protects establishments under the nuclear and aerospace domain (aviation industry), paramilitary airports and Delhi Metro, as well as several central ministry buildings in the national capital. Sources said that the Union Home Ministry yesterday directed the Parliament House complex in this regard so that a large-scale CISF security and fire brigade unit can be permanently deployed. The decision to hand over the entire security of Parliament House to the CISF was taken after the Ministry of Home Affairs gave in-principle approval. Security monitoring and ward members will also be sent in batches to the CISF center for training in human and equipment inspection. Fire brigade and rescue officials along with experts from the government building security unit of the CISF, which protects central government ministries, and officials from the current parliamentary security team will begin the survey later this week.
