The proceedings of Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha have been adjourned and will meet again at 2:00 pm.
Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2:00 pm after opposition disrupted proceedings demanding discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.
Lok Sabha was also adjourned till 2:00 PM amid chaos over Bihar roll revision issue by opposition MPs.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Thursday submitted an Adjournment Motion seeking discussion on the SIR of electoral rolls in Bihar being conducted by the Election Commission of India.
In his notice, Tagore highlighted the exercise as an “act of mass disenfranchisement” which was nothing short of “institutional voter cleansing” orchestrated under the Modi Government.
Tagore further in his letter highlighted the SIR exercise as an attack on the legacy of Babasaheb BR Ambedkar, who “enshrined” universal adult franchise in the Constitution to empower citizens, irrespective of their caste, class or wealth.
