Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, spoke during a special Assembly session convened to denounce the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. He emphasized the nationwide impact of this tragic event, stating that it resonated from the northernmost regions to the southern parts of India, affecting states as diverse as Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat, as well as Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala. Abdullah reflected on the history of violence in the region, recalling previous attacks on the Amarnath Yatra camp and various villages, including those inhabited by Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs. He noted that the Baisaran attack marked a significant escalation, being the most severe assault on civilians in over two decades, a period during which many had hoped such violence was behind them. Expressing his deep sorrow, he conveyed his inability to find the right words to apologize to the families of the victims, acknowledging his responsibility as a host to ensure the safety of tourists, a duty he felt he had failed to fulfill.
