Mandi, March 2 (Ozi news desk): Parts of Northern India, including Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana, experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday, accompanied by fresh snowfall in the Himachal Pradesh region. The Manali-Leh highway was closed beyond Solang Nala towards Keylong due to the heavy snowfall, causing blockages on several roads in Manali and Lahaul and Spiti region.
The Atal tunnel on this highway also witnessed heavy snowfall, leading to road closures in Lahaul and Udaipur subdivision. In Spiti region, the Sumdo-Kaza-Gramphu highway was blocked, and the entire Lahaul and Spiti district experienced a standstill in traffic due to the snowfall. The local authorities advised the public to stay at home and avoid areas prone to snow avalanches.
The Border Roads Organisation will work on clearing the snow on the Manali-Leh highway once the weather improves. Additionally, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway faced multiple landslides caused by continuous rainfall, resulting in blockages.
