Ludhiana, Jun 27 (PTI) Government buses in Punjab will remain jammed today and people venturing out of their homes are likely to face problems. Punjab Roadways, Punbus and P. R. T. C. Issuing a press statement, Harkesh Vicky, state senior vice-president of the Contract Workers Union, said that the Punjab government was not paying any attention to its departments, such as p. R. T. C. The department is being privatized by floating tenders for kilometre scheme buses. This is constantly being opposed by the union.It seems that the management itself is opposing the government and the time given by the government to implement their accepted demands has increased from 15 days to 25 days, but no attention is being paid to the demands of the employees. R. T. C. There will be a complete chakka jam of buses and the chief minister’s residence will be gheraoed on 28th.
Jagtar Singh said that the demands of the employees are not being implemented even after accepting them, which proves that the government does not have control over the officers of its departments. That is to say, p. R. T. C. The legitimate demands of the employees are not being accepted and implemented, due to which there is a huge protest among the workers. The demands include regularisation of raw workers, 2,500 and 30 per cent hike in salaries of workers who have been reinstated from the report, implementation of 5 per cent increment every year and cancellation of tenders for kilometre scheme buses, reinstatement of employees fired by imposing illegal conditions and further revising the deadly conditions, he said. Many of these demands were agreed upon and press notes were also issued, but the management has not implemented those demands till date.
