Under the able guidance of Ms Rupinderjit Chahal, Ld. District and Sessions Judge cum Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala and under the supervision of Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, medical camps were organized at Central Jail, Patiala and New District Jail, Nabha by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala in collaboration with health department and jail administration today. In these medical camps, 412 jail inmates in Central Jail, Patiala and 156 inmates in New District Jail, Nabha were medically examined by specialist doctors. Necessary medicines were also provided to them.
On this occasion, Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala interacted with the jail inmates regarding their grievances/problems being faced by them. Jail Superintendent, other officers and staff of the jails were instructed to ensure timely redressal of their grievances/problems.
Apart from this, legal awareness programmes were also held by Ms Manni Arora, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala with the jail inmates of Central Jail, Patiala, New District Jail, Nabha and Open Air Jail, Nabha. In these programmes, jail inmates were made aware about plea bargaining, Free legal aid and persons who are entitled for getting free legal aid.
Ms Manni Arora told that Meditation/Yoga camps for jail inmates have also been started in District Patiala jails by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala. Besides, Computer Training Course for female jail inmates has also been started in New District Jail, Nabha in collaboration with Play Ways Senior Secondary School, Patiala.
She further told that National Lok Adalat pertaining to all types of cases i.e. Pre-Litigative cases, civil cases which are pending in the various courts and compoundable criminal cases is going to be held on 9.12.2023 in District Patiala.
