The strike of truck drivers is continuing in the country and meanwhile the Maharashtra government has requested the police to ensure uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders in the market. Truck drivers are opposing the provision of the new law regarding ‘hit and run’ accidents involving vehicle drivers. Under the new law, there is a provision of severe punishment for those who cause serious road accidents due to careless driving. The new law provides for 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of 7 lakhs for those who abscond without informing the police or administrative authorities after the accident.
