Jalandhar, July 10 (Ozi news desk): The Jalandhar West assembly bypoll in Punjab on Wednesday saw a voter turnout of 23.4 per cent recorded till 11 am amidst stringent security measures. Polling commenced at 7 am and is scheduled to continue until 6 pm, with the votes set to be counted on July 13, as per officials overseeing the process.
The electoral landscape in the Jalandhar West constituency is marked by a multi-cornered contest, with prominent political entities such as AAP, Congress, and BJP actively competing against each other. A total of fifteen candidates are participating in the by-election, adding to the diversity of choices available to the electorate.
Congress candidate Surinder Kaur was one of the early voters in the bypoll and took the opportunity to criticize the AAP government, alleging that the public was dissatisfied with its performance. Meanwhile, AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat expressed optimism about his party’s prospects, stating that the people would play a crucial role in securing victory for AAP in the election.
