New Delhi, February 2 (ozi news desk):

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, once again failed to appear before the Enforcement Directorate after being summoned for the fifth time. This summons is in relation to the ongoing investigation into money laundering and irregularities in the Delhi excise policy case. This comes after he had previously skipped the fourth summons on January 18.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi CM and AAP national convener, will not be present for the ED summons today. They emphasized their commitment to following lawful summons and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to arrest Kejriwal and overthrow the Delhi government. The party asserted that they will not permit this to occur.

Kejriwal has evaded four previous summonses from the ED, which were issued on January 18, January 3, November 2, and December 22. He has dismissed these summonses as “illegal and politically motivated.” The ED is seeking to obtain Kejriwal’s statement regarding various aspects of the case, including the policy formulation process, pre-finalization meetings, and allegations of bribery. During his refusal to attend the fourth summons, Kejriwal accused the agency of planning to arrest him and hinder his election campaign, while expressing his willingness to cooperate.

The ED’s four notices that were sent to me are considered illegal and invalid according to the law. In previous instances where the ED sent similar non-specific notices, they were nullified and deemed invalid by the courts. Kejriwal, who skipped the fourth notice, stated that these notices are being sent as part of a political conspiracy. Meanwhile, the AAP plans to hold a protest in Delhi regarding alleged cheating in the Chandigarh mayoral polls, while the BJP members intend to protest against corruption within the Arvind Kejriwal government.
