The political discussions in the streets of Chandigarh have intensified regarding the appointment of Kiran Bedi, the former Chief of Police, as the Governor of Punjab. After the resignation of Banwari Lal Purohit from the position of Governor, the discussions have now shifted towards the possibility of Kiran Bedi becoming the next Governor of Punjab. A leader from the Punjab BJP has also claimed this. However, the biggest question remains whether Kiran Bedi, who was born in Amritsar, can be appointed as the Governor of Punjab. This has sparked a new debate. Prior to this, Dr. Kamal Soi, the spokesperson of the Punjab BJP, claimed that the first female IPS officer, Kiran Bedi, will be the next Governor of the state. Dr. Soi posted about this on social media, specifically on Twitter. He mentioned that the situation in the state will change after Kiran Bedi’s arrival in Punjab. The rising star of Amritsar, Kiran Bedi, is expected to bring positive changes to Punjab.

Kiran Bedi was born on June 6, 1949 in Amritsar, Punjab. She was a former tennis player who achieved great success in her career. In 1966, Kiran Bedi won the National Junior Tennis Championship. From 1965 to 1978, she won numerous national and inter-state competitions. In 1972, she became the first woman to join the Indian Police Service (IPS). After becoming an IPS officer, she served in Delhi, Goa, Chandigarh, and Mizoram.
