New York, June 2 (Ozi news desk): The T20 World Cup is approaching, and the Indian cricket team is still working on finalizing their batting line-up. Captain Rohit Sharma emphasized that the decision to send Rishabh Pant at No. 3 in the warm-up match against Bangladesh should not be overanalyzed. Despite this, India emerged victorious by 60 runs, with Bangladesh only managing to score 122/9 while India posted a total of 182/5. Rohit explained that Pant was given the opportunity to bat at No. 3 to assess his performance in that position. Rohit expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of both the batsmen and the bowlers in the match. Pant played an impressive innings, scoring 53 runs off 32 balls, while Hardik Pandya contributed 40 runs off 23 deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav also made a valuable contribution with an 18-ball 31. Rohit highlighted the importance of getting accustomed to the conditions of the new venue, ground, and drop-in pitch. He commended the team for adapting well to the unfamiliar conditions. Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm seamer, stood out with his bowling performance, taking 2/12 in three overs. Shivam Dube, an all-rounder, also impressed with figures of 2/13 in three overs. Rohit praised Arshdeep’s skills and versatility, noting his ability to swing the ball upfront and deliver crucial deliveries at the death. The team has a pool of 15 talented players, and the final combination will depend on the prevailing conditions. Head coach Rahul Dravid described the pitch as “bit soft and spongy” but expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance. He emphasized the importance of taking care of the players’ physical well-being, particularly their hamstrings and calves, due to the softness of the ground.
