g 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Prior to the start of play at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand declared their second innings at 179 for four, setting a daunting target of 529 runs for the Proteas to chase. In the initial 20 minutes, the home seamers swiftly dismissed Neil Brand and Edward Moore, leaving the opposition in a vulnerable position. However, the momentum was temporarily halted when Zubayr Hamza and Raynard van Tonder formed a solid partnership, accumulating 63 runs for the third wicket. After the lunch break, Kyle Jamieson showcased his exceptional skills by swiftly eliminating both batsmen. Nevertheless, David Bedingham emerged as a formidable obstacle, posing an even greater challenge for the bowling side.In his third test match, the 29-year-old right-handed batsman showcased his exceptional skills by delivering an outstanding and aggressive innings of 87 runs, which mirrored his impressive performance in first-class cricket. This remarkable display of batting prowess ensured the safety of his team as they reached a score of 173-4 by the time of tea. Following the break, Jamieson swiftly dismissed Bedingham, who unfortunately squandered the opportunity to achieve his first-ever century by attempting to attack a short ball and ultimately getting caught out at deep midwicket. According to former England captain Nasser Hussain, the exceptional performance of the talented bowler Bumrah played a pivotal role in determining the outcome of the second Test match.

The next batsman to depart was Keegan Petersen, who fell for 16 runs after also taking on a short delivery from Jamieson, but only managing to pull the ball to Rachin Ravindra stationed at long leg.Mitch Santner, a specialist spinner, was experiencing a lack of luck in the match. However, it was the part-time bowler Glenn Phillips who made the next breakthrough. Clyde Fortuin, who had scored 11 runs, hit a shot that struck the knee of a fielder positioned close to him. As a result, the ball flew into the air, providing an easy catch for the fielding team.South Africa managed to surpass the 200-run mark, but it was Santner who finally found success in the match. He took three wickets, dismissing Duanne Olivier for 1 run, Tshepo Moreki for 6 runs, and Dane Paterson for 15 runs. This led to the tourists being dismissed for a total of 247 runs.Looking ahead, the second and final test match between New Zealand and South Africa is scheduled to take place in Hamilton on February 13th. New Zealand will be aiming for their first series victory over South Africa in almost a century of trying.
