Patiala, June 19 (Ozi news desk): Punjab experienced a record-breaking power demand of 16,078 MW today, resulting in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) having to rely on additional power from the grid to manage the situation effectively. The shortage of supply occurred due to a 660-MW unit tripping at Talwandi Sabo, which led to the curtailment of power supply to the agriculture sector for a few hours. The power scenario in Punjab is currently precarious, with the demand reaching alarming levels during the afternoon hours. The PSPCL officials emphasized that no power cuts were imposed, but they had to temporarily reduce power from agricultural feeders to meet the overwhelming demand. The situation was extremely challenging, as the demand soared to 16,078 MW, posing potential risks and uncertainties.
