The Yogi Adityanath administration has introduced an innovative application of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven surveillance system at the Maha Kumbh, marking its inaugural implementation on such a grand scale. This initiative is designed to enhance safety measures and prevent crowd-related incidents in future gatherings, thereby aiming to avert tragedies similar to the one experienced this year, as stated by the Mela authorities. Tragically, a stampede on January 29 resulted in the loss of at least 30 lives and left over 90 individuals injured during the ongoing Maha Kumbh event in Prayagraj, which has already attracted an unprecedented attendance of 60 crore pilgrims.
