High Court issues notice to Haryana for burning of industrial waste in Nuh village

Gurugram, June 2 (Ozi news desk):  Residents of Khori Khurd village in Nuh have been enduring an unhealthy lifestyle for more than a decade due to the illegal burning of chemical industrial waste in their village. In an effort to find relief, the residents have taken their case to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court has acknowledged the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the locals and has issued a notice to the state government, requesting a status report on the numerous complaints and representations made by the residents, as well as the actions taken in response. The petitioner expressed their disappointment, stating that they had trusted the government and local administration for over 12 years, only to see their village turn into a dumping ground for chemical waste from the National Capital Region (NCR) and Rajasthan. The burning of this waste has caused health issues for the residents, including problems with their eyes, throat, and lungs. Recently, a massive fire broke out, spreading to the nearby jungle and posing a threat to the entire village. The petitioner believes that only the High Court can save their lives now. The situation in Khori Kalan and Khori Khurd has been compared to living in gas chambers, as the unchecked burning of waste continues each night, despite previous raids, checks, and medical camps yielding no results.
