Chandigarh, July 4(Press Ki Taquat) – Former Cabinet Minister and BJP State Vice President, Balbir Singh Sidhu slammed GAMADA’s decision to flay 4000 allottees with hefty land enhancement cost.
Sidhu stated this decision as headless and predicted that this order will face the massive heat from allottees. He said that charging ₹3,164 per square metre as additional cost from the allottees/transferees of Sectors 76 to 80, can never be justified. He added that this will trigger strong resentment among allottees who have been living here for years after fulfilling all dues. This will translate into over ₹6 lakh for plots measuring 8 marlas and nearly ₹4 lakh for 6 marla plots, he added.
Terming the decision completely unjustified and unfair, Balbir Singh Sidhu, said, “Residents are in no position to pay such a huge amount after clearing all dues as per GMADA policy. Sidhu said we will leave no stone unturned to revert these orders back. He added that the Government of Punjab and the concerned Minister should immediately intervene as such unfortunate decision shakes the faith of investors in GMADA.
Sidhu elaborated that enhancement is the increase in compensation paid to a farmer/landowner for the acquisition of their land, which is decided by a court in case they are not satisfied with the price being offered by the government or its development agency.
He further questioned that any compensation disputes are between GMADA and the farmers/landowners. So why are allottees being penalized for no fault?”
