Following the Pahalgam attack, nearly 50 tourist destinations in Kashmir have been closed due to heightened security concerns.

In the aftermath of a tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the loss of 26 lives, predominantly among tourists, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have taken decisive action by closing nearly 50 public parks and tourist attractions as a precautionary measure. Reports indicate that 48 out of 87 such sites have been shut down, reflecting heightened security concerns and the perception of risk among visitors. The closures affect a range of locations, from popular destinations to lesser-known gems, including Dooshpathri, Kokernag, Duksum, Sinthan Top, Acchabal, Bangus Valley, Margan Top, and Tosamaidan. This significant shutdown poses a considerable challenge to the region’s tourism sector, which serves as a vital component of its economy, impacting both its symbolic and financial aspects. Despite these measures, officials emphasize that ensuring the safety of both residents and tourists remains their foremost priority.
