On Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), acknowledged the party’s loss in the crucial Delhi Assembly elections. The AAP appears to be facing a significant defeat in the 70-member assembly, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) currently leading in 47 constituencies, while AAP is projected to secure only 23 seats. Both Kejriwal and his deputy, Manish Sisodia, are falling behind their BJP counterparts, Parvesh Verma and Tarvinder Singh Marwah, in their respective contests. In a video address, Kejriwal expressed his acceptance of the electoral outcome, stating, “We accept people’s mandate with humility,” and extended his congratulations to the BJP on their victory, while also expressing hope that the party will meet the expectations of Delhi’s residents. Reflecting on the achievements of AAP over the past decade, he highlighted the significant progress made in areas such as education, water supply, electricity, and infrastructure, aimed at providing relief to the citizens of Delhi.
