Beba Amarjeet Kaur Pooja, Chairperson of the Anmol Muskan Kanti W/o Deep Singh Charitable Trust, in a message to the nation on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day, said that electricity is a vital national asset, and its protection and conservation are the moral responsibility of every citizen.
Appealing to the people of the nation,Beba Amarjeet Kaur Pooja urged that on this day, every citizen should pledge to use electricity thoughtfully, judiciously and strictly as per actual need. She called upon people to completely avoid unnecessary consumption and avoidable wastage of electricity, and to adopt power saving as an integral habit in their daily lives.
She said that saving electricity is not merely an economic advantage but an essential requirement to secure a bright and safe future for the coming generations. National Energy Conservation Day, she added, reminds us that only by becoming responsible and aware citizens can we build a self-reliant and energy-secure nation.
She further stated that although various power utilities of the nation are making tireless, efforts to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers, a gap still persists between electricity demand and generation. She pointed out that setting up new power projects is a long, expensive and technically complex governmental process that demands huge financial resources. However, she emphasized that effective and committed energy conservation can significantly bridge the gap between power demand and supply.
